This blend comes from a single plot, Duahlas, which is 14 hectares of warmer South‐facing slopes above the village of Lagarinhos. The wine is vinified in granite lagares and large old vats, with lowimpact ageing in a mixed of waxed concrete and large Hungarian and French vats. Dualhas was originally planted mainly to Tinta Roriz, but has been slowly grafted to include more Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Jaen, making it a very typical Dāo blend.
This is open, smooth and easy, but far from simple.
Concentrated red cherry fruit, layered with blackberry and spice. It has the
floral tang of blackberry, too, with traces of licorice and pollen. A
delightfully light palate on entry is open, fresh and easy. It flows into some
tannin slowdown towards the end, where compote fruit meets acid
freshness and tannin folding together in nicely fruit‐fresh‐savoury parcel.
