'Moncerbal' Single Vineyard Mencía 2020

Size

From Sufreiro (the Galician name for the cork oak),  0.86 hectare section of the Moncerbal hillside, facing south above the village of Corullon, at above 750m, with vines around 100 years' age. Rocky slate with silica and quartz, but there’s only about 30cm of soil. Fermented in small open wooden vats (old 1200 litre foudre), aged 14 months in new French barriques.
Unfiltered; production total: 8 barrels.

Vibrant, spicy and purple with lovely herb-floral countryside smells, and a juicy
palate marked by gravelly soil and piquantly spiced. Highly perfumed fruit is filled with musky roses and an incredible tangle of herbs and balsams.
