Castro Martín, D.O. Rías Baixas

Castro Martin is a small, dedicated high quality family concern, and use all estate grown fruit for this label. Their viticulture is immaculate, and hence the wine also! Albariño is fast becoming a famous new variety in international drinking - clearly one of the best seafood wines you can get, and somewhat the bargain.

Bodegas Castro Martín stands proudly as a business still owned and run by the founding family; the Bodega's history can be traced back as far as 1887 where old documents prove the existence of a wine cellar and the sale of Albariño.

The innovative Domingo Martín-Morales had the current winery constructed in 1982, some five years before the D.O. of Rías Baixas was created. The winery was designed using modern concepts and was the very first in the region to be equipped with stainless steel tanks for wine storage - which at that time seemed to many locals as an unnecessary extravagance!

The philosophy at Castro Martín is simple: to make the best quality wine possible at the most competitive price. The team are constantly re-examining their work, improving and including innovative techniques where possible, whilst still respecting the tradition of the region.
