We are delighted to add to our portfolio the best producer of Mallorcan red, 4 Kilos. Owner-maker Francesc Grimalt and his gang produce a range of 4 delightful, super-elegant and remarkably fresh Mediterranean reds.

We are proud to offer you their key wine, 4 Kilos itself, from the fabulous 2011 vintage. Next year, we will re-launch with all four wines in their range when we roll out the 2012s.

Four Kilos is wonderful booze, absolutely specific and unique, easy to understand, good value and drinking well now despite its significant age-worthiness.

The gang are extremely good fun, they're very deep thinkers. They are the real deal!

4 Kilos Callet 2011, Vino de la tierra de Mallorca, $105 RRP
First released in 2006, 4 Kilos contains 10% of Syrah and 5% mixed of Cabernet and Fogoneu. All fruit is from the village of Felanitx within the Pla i Llevant DO, old vines grown on Call Vermell. Fermented in stainless steel and 500 litre French oak. Aged 14 months in 225 and 600 litre new French oak. Typified by fresh red fruit showing its soil, earthy with mineral acidity.

Old vine wood and an airy potpourri of countryness populate a lovely nutty red berry nose replete with Mediterranean herb. The palate is fantastic – round and slick to begin with, then perfume and tannin rolling back long in the mouth. Delicate, with mineral-acid freshness above lovely baked earth.
