Lavradores de Feitoria

A collaboration of Quintas (Lavradores are Farmers) across the 3 sub-regions of the Douro (Baixa Corgo, Cima Corga and Douro Superior). Started in 2000, this 'kind-of-co-operative' has 48 shareholders across 19 estates, selecting from 600 hectares of possible source material. The wine world's Ultimate Super Group?!

Historically, a Feitoria is a trading post (literally, a totem pole), 335 of which once served as boundary stones demarcating the production and trading zone which became the Douro, and first carved an existence trading for textiles and cod with the English. The Lavradores wines are a deliberately broad portrait of Douro in terms of sub-regional and varietal origins; and a deliberately elegant and refined expression therein. Boal, Codega, Gouveio, Malvasia, Sauvignon and Viosinho are source code for the white. The red is a regional blend of Alvarelhão, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Cão, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional.
